Returning JETs Hosted at Reception by Consul-General

A reception was held at the official residence of Consul-General of Japan Eiji Yamamoto on Oct. 26 to welcome back returning participants of the Japan Exchange and Teaching Programme.  Over 60 people were in attendance to welcome the JETs home.

The 20 JET returnees.

The JET Programme is a Japanese Government initiative that invites youths from around the world to assist in language education and other internationalization activities.  The contract is for one year, but it is renewable for up to five years -- each contract starting in August during summer holidays until the same time the following year.

This time of year, therefore, is when JET participants who have completed their stay in Japan return home.  This reception is an expression of the Consulate-General of Japan in Toronto welcoming them home, as well as of the hope that they will continue to work toward the betterment of Japan-Canada relations.

The returning JETs hopefully can make use of this opportunity to establish fruitful relationship with local Japanese business and JETAA
