The Consulate General of Japan in Toronto has started recruitment activities for the 28th annual Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Programme.
The JET Programme is a youth invitational program centring on language education and internationalizing activities, adminsited by the regional governments across Japan with the support of the national government. It places participants as assistant teachers of English in public schools, as well as coordinators of international activities at the local level. The aim is the promotion of the internationalization of Japan. At present, for the 2013 programme, 4,372 youths from 40 different countries are participating in the programme. (Note: because this is an exchange programme, applications from Japanese nationals are not accepted.)
The Consulate General of Japan on Sept. 22 and 23 provided information on JET at a booth at the Go Global Expo fair, a trade show focusing on employment, study and volunteer activities abroad. Other information sessions are scheduled at various universities in Ontario. To find those closest to you visit the JET Programme website at: http://www.jetprogramme.ca/
Applications can also be made through the JET website. Deadline for application is November 29. Accepted participants will travel to Japan in the summer of 2014. Contracts are for one year, but are renewable if applicable conditions are met.)
