Tokyo University Economist Explores Opportunities in Japan-Canada Relations
Tokyo University Professor and National Institute for Research Advancement (NIRA) President Motoshige Itoh gave a presentation entitled “Japan and Canada: Opportunities and Challenges” in the downtown offices of the law firm McMillan on Oct. 12.
The audience consisting of over 100 attendants listened to Prof. Itoh’s comprehensive explanations of: the advantages of a Japan-Canada Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA); the challenges pertaining to energy resources following last year’s Great East Japan Earthquake; Japan’s aging population and the resulting economy and other timely topics.
This presentation was a part of Prof. Itoh’s Canadian lecture tour under the auspices of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan. In addition to Toronto, Prof. Itoh also spoke in Ottawa and Vancouver. The Toronto event was co-hosted by the Consulate-General of Japan and the Japan Society.
