Discover the World of Haiku
(Teachers Program)
Haiku is poetry consisting of lines of five, seven and five syllables. In haiku, the poet attempts to express their deepest emotions by describing nature in simple but beautiful language.

- Length: 2 hour and half presentation (include 20 minutes break)

Instructor: Ms. Kimiko Horne
She taught Japanese language at Niagara College and Brock University as a Japanese Language Lector till retirement. Also she was a researcher of Brock Institute of Asia Pacific Studies. She has written haiku in both English and Japanese since 1985 when becoming a member of Haiku Canada and at about the same time joining Kaitei Haiku group in Japan. Awarded a number of prizes for haiku in English in Japan and Canada.
Applying for the program
Reservation of the program is subject to availability, as well as approval by the Consulate-General of Japan in Toronto, which will consider whether the request meets the guidelines. Teachers requesting to apply for the Wonder of Japan program must:
- Be located in the GTA.
- Have a genuine interest in learning and teaching about Haiku.
