Consul General of Japan Eiji Yamamoto attended a very special performance on June 11 held by Toronto's Famous PEOPLE Players and the Japanese bell-ringing group COSMOS.
The warm friendship between the two acclaimed perfomance groups began when Famous PEOPLE Players were first invited to Japan in 1995 after the earthquake in Kobe, Japan. to help raise funds for children who had lost their families. It was also at this time that COSMOS was founded by Ms. Masayo Suzuki.
Famous PEOPLE Players have since toured in Japan 12 times, and have hosted COSMOS when they have come to perform in Canada. On their previous trip here, COSMOS earned praise from the then Japanese Ambassador to Canada, Kaoru Ishikawa. Famous PEOPLE Players also had the opportunity to entertain Mrs. Nobuko Kan, the wife of former Prime Minister Naoto Kan, in 2010 during the G20 Summit.
The visit by COSMOS this time is part of Famous PEOPLE Players' 40th anniversary celebrations.
