Like last year, the Consulate-General of Japan provided activities such as a mikoshi (portable shrine) parade to enhance the festival’s program. Canadian and Japanese youths dressed in colourful happi jackets paraded around the site shouting “Wasshoi! Wasshoi!” as according to tradition. The parades drew the attention of those attending the festival, many of whom took photos.
