Introducing Japanese Culture at Canadian Stage

Five major cultural organizations have come together under the banner of Spotlight Japan in order to present a wide variety of artistic and cultural events relating to Japan from January through April of this year.

February 26 marked the opening of Mr. Hiroaki Umeda’s digital choreography and Mr. Oriza Hirata’s robot theatre at Canadian Stage with the support of the Consulate-General of Japan in Toronto.

On that evening featured greetings by Mr. Eiji Yamamoto, Consul-General of Japan in Toronto, a soba making demonstration by his official chef Mr. Takeshi Sato, a koto performance and a sake tasting. Those in attendance were treated to both traditional and contemporary Japanese culture.
