Consul-General Yamamoto Visits Barrie

Consul General of Japan in Toronto Eiji Yamamoto on Oct. 24 visited Barrie, a friendship city of Murayama in Yamagata Prefecture,. and met with Mayor Jeff Lehman. The Consul General and the Mayor exchanged views and information on various facets of present-day Barrie, as well as on possible opportunities to promote business with Japan. Barrie is a picturesque community situated 94 km north of Toronto on the shores of Lake Simcoe. This year marks the 16th year it has exchanged students with Murayama as part of their friendship city program. The Consul General has now visited 14 municipalities in Ontario which have sister city or friendship agreements with Japan.
