2012 National Day

The Consulate General of Japan hosted its annual National Day reception celebrating the 79th birthday of His Majesty the Emperor of Japan on November 23rd, 2012 at the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre.

Over 300 guests attended the celebration, including several high-level officials from the federal, provincial and municipal governments as well as many prominent business and community leaders. We were honoured to welcome all the esteemed guests to our celebration.

Inside Kobayashi Hall, guests were treated to an array of Japanese traditional cultural experiences such as a koto (Japanese stringed instrument) performance, sado (Japanese tea ceremony) demonstrations, ikebana (art of flower arrangement) and sampling of Japanese cuisine.

In Shokokai Court some fantastic displays featured the products from a number of Japanese companies and organizations. The evening was a great success thanks to all of the guests and supporters of the reception!
