Consul-General attends First Workshop of Canada Japan Universities Collaboration on Resources
The 2013 First Workshop of Canada Japan Universities Collaboration on Resources was held at the University of Toronto on May 9.
In attendance were nine researchers from Akita University and five other Japanese universities, as well as sixteen researchers from the University of Toronto and eight other Canadian universities. Consul-General of Japan in Toronto Eiji Yamamoto extended greetings through remarks at the start of the workshop, while during the sessions, information and opinions were exchanged through lively discussions on relevant topics such as each university’s research initiatives, coordination and cooperation.
This workshop came about due to the meeting in March 2012 between the prime ministers of Japan and Canada and their affirmation to further promote cooperation between the energy and mineral resource sectors of the two countries. The workshop follows up this agreement, with the intention to increase cooperation and coordination among Japanese and Canadian universities in the field of resources.
