Governor of Osaka Prefecture Ichiro Matsui Visits Toronto

On Sept. 15, Ichiro Matsui, Governor of Osaka Prefecture, met with Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne. During the meeting, Governor Matsui asked for Ontario’s cooperation on the expansion of Osaka’s hydrogen and fuel cell industries. Premier Wynne in response said she would like to the possibility of collaboration and cooperation under consideration.

The same day, representatives from Canadian businesses as well as from Japanese companies operating in Ontario attended the Osaka Industry Seminar hosted by the Government of Osaka Prefecture. There, Gov. Matsui gave a speech to promote the potential of Osaka’s hydrogen and fuel cell industries, and called for collaboration with related businesses as well as for investment in his region. Consul-General of Japan Yasunori Nakayama also gave remarks, explaining the concrete policy reforms currently being undertaken by Japan to attract foreign direct investment, and asking participants of the seminar to consider investment and expansion into Osaka Prefecture.
