Consul General Visits the Liquor Control Board of Ontario
Consul General of Japan Eiji Yamamoto on April 22 paid a visit to Mr. Bob Peter, the CEO of the Liquor Control Board of Ontario (LCBO), and exchanged views on further promoting the importation of Japanese alcoholic beverages to this province.
The LCBO oversees the sale of liquor in Ontario, and is a provincial government enterprise which is considered one of the world’s largest buyers and retailers of beverage alcohol. Any importer and retailer of liquor in Ontario requires a contract with the LCBO.
Mr. Peter outlined for the Consul General the current situation locally with respect to the sales of Japanese alcoholic beverages, starting with sake.
Consul General Yamamoto expressed his appreciation to the LCBO for their handling of more liquor from Japan. He also asked for continued cooperation in promoting Japanese alcoholic beverages even further among Canadians.
The Consulate General of Japan also intends to continue to support the promotion of Japanese alcoholic beverages in Ontario.
