Consul General Yamamoto Visits Ontario's Minister of Infrastructure and Transportation
Consul-General of Japan Eiji Yamamoto on May 1 paid a courtesy call on The Honourable Bob Chiarelli, Ontario’s Minister of Infrastructure and Minister of Transportation. They exchanged views on such issues as long-term plans dealing with public transportation systems in Ontario, rail systems in Canada and in Japan and the state of public infrastructure. Consul –General Yamamoto explained Japan’s high-speed rail technology and conditions surrounding Japan’s exports overseas. He also stressed how Japanese businesses in Ontario should contribute greatly to Ontario’s infrastructure in the future.
Minister Chiarelli stated that Canada’s great potential can only be further developed with mutual exchange of knowhow with Japan. He said he has great hopes for the Economic Partnership Agreement negotiations starting between the two countries.
