Last of the Samurai Photo Exhibit Opening: An Official Event Commemorating the 90th Anniversary of Japan-Canada Diplomatic Relations


Opening of the Last of the Samurai Photo Exhibit.

On June 29, Consul-General of Japan Takako Ito attended and gave remarks at the opening of the Last of the Samurai photo exhibit, being held at the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre from June 29 to Aug. 5. This exhibit shows 49 photos, including those of samurai in the Bakumatsu and Meiji periods, as well as female students sent abroad, centering on the "Last of the Samurai" sent to the United States.  In addition to the lecture by Ms. Miro Ito, there was a performance of a dance incorporating sword techniques by Mr. Shunso Arai. This exhibit is an official commemorative event of the 90th anniversary of Japan-Canada diplomatic relations.
