The Consulate-General of Japan Now Accepting
Donations for Kumamoto Earthquake Relief

We have received many inquiries on how to make donations to support the relief efforts for the Kumamoto Earthquake, and we would like to express our heartfelt appreciation for your concern.


The Government of Japan decided on April 20 that it would accept monetary contributions from overseas, and our Consulate-General of Japan is therefore now accepting donations.  Those who wish to make donations are asked to follow the instructions below:

 

  • Please print and complete the prescribed form (available for download here), and deliver it along with a cheque to our office either in person or by post.  Or mailing address is:

    If delivering your donation in person, please note our office hours are Monday through Friday, 09:00-12:30 and 13:30-17:00.



  • Cheques must be made out to: Consulate General of Japan, Kumamoto EQ

    Please be advised that a discrepancy in to whom the cheque is made out may result in our not being able to accept it.


  • The donations entrusted to us will be distirbuted entirely among the victims of the earhquake. Your donation will be directed through the Government of Japan. As well, a receipt from our Consulate-General will be issued upon request. Please indicate whether or not you require a receipt in the appropriate section of the form.


  • If you are donating cash, please deliver it in person to our office.


  • We regret this donation will not be tax deductible, and ask for your kind understanding.

  • Donations directed to the Government of Japan will be accepted at overseas diplomatic missions until March 31, 2017.

  • Donations directed to the Japanese Red Cross Society are no longer being accepted at overseas Japanese diplomatic missions as of June 30, 2016.
